The Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education is a general further education college offering full and part-time Further Education, a growing higher education provision, training for business, education in the community and commercial activities at its main Nuns Corner campus in Grimsby.

We have two other principal sites; the East Coast School of Art and Design is situated at Westward Ho in Grimsby, home to art and music learners; and the Nunsthorpe Community Campus, home to horticulture, animal care and some construction.

Additionally, the Institute provides education and training out of various satellite centres, including The Learning Shop in Grimsby Town Centre. Learners in the surrounding areas of Cleethorpes, Immingham, Louth, Mablethorpe and Skegness also benefit from the Institute’s provision based at learning centres in these localities.

We have many partnerships with other educational establishments, other training providers and commercial organisations internationally.

With around 1,350 staff, the Institute is the third largest employer in the North East Lincolnshire region. In the 2006/07 academic year, we had over 22,500 students.

The Institute is the largest provider of vocational qualifications in North East Lincolnshire, with five Learning & Skills Council Centres of Vocational Excellence. The Institute also offers extensive Work Based Learning programmes, providing apprenticeships for 16 to 24 year olds, and offers a wide range of A/AS levels.

Higher Education provision is an area the Institute is developing at some pace. We currently offer over 100 HE programmes through partnerships with universities including, Hull, York St. John, Huddersfield and Leeds Metropolitan.
