SENDA STATEMENT
The following outlines the Institute’s commitment to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001.The Institute provides education and training for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The range of levels available enables all students to find a course suitable for their abilities. We are committed to ensuring that people with disabilities, including those with learning difficulties, are treated fairly. All reasonable adjustments to provision will be made to ensure they are not substantially disadvantaged.
Support services are available as follows:-
- Study Skills Centre (in 2D11) supplies individual help for numeracy/literacy and computer skills
- Additional support for course work and exams can also be arranged.
- Dyslexia Unit
- Visually Impaired Unit
- Help for the hearing and physically impaired
- Help for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
Additionally the Institute can support students by arranging student support workers, a key support tutor and special equipment as required

Learner Advisors at the Institute are also pro-active in helping to meet the requirements of students with disabilities. Staff are available throughout the campus to assist disabled students and a facility for the visually impaired is located within the main library.
In accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act, we have all the equipment you will need to ensure a comfortable learning experience during your time at the Institute.
