Teacher Education courses

FdEd - Learning Support

Duration: 3 years part time study - Evening classes together with more flexible forms of learning such as independent study, online study and work-based learning.

The overall aim of the programme is to ensure that learning support workers operating across a wide range of institutions including (but not restricted to) primary and secondary schools, community settings, early years environments and out-of-school clubs, have the knowledge, understanding and skills which will improve their employability and effectiveness at work. It also aims to enable participants to progress within the broad area of learning support, towards either a QTS teaching qualification or an Honours degree in professional learning support.

Entry Requirements

Applications from all age groups are welcome. Although students must normally fulfil the University of Hull's matriculation requirements, each application is considered on its own merit taking into account student's motivation, any work experience (paid or voluntary) or professional qualifications and awards, plus evidence that you can succeed at degree level. IT skills are advisable and all students must have an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure.
Work on all modules of the programme will involve some element of work-based learning, equating roughly to one day per week.
