Electrical /Electronic Engineering courses
Level 2 - Performing Engineering Operations Electrical/ Electronics
Duration: 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time (day release).
This is a level two engineering programme that builds on Level One Performing Engineering Operations and can be assessed off the job (at the Institute). This would mimic the working situation by using machinery tools and equipment representative to industry standards.
Entry Requirements
Successful completion of the Level 1 Performing Engineering Operations Electrical/Electronic Engineering orA minimum of three GCSEs at grade D or above, including Maths, English and Science.
What you learn
Group 'A' Mandatory Units (All three must be completed):PEO2/001: Working safely in an engineering environment
PEO2/002: Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
PEO2/003: Using and communicating technical information
Group 'B' General Support Units (Plus as least one more depending upon you chosen discipline:)
PEO2/035: Assembling, wiring and testing electrical panels/ components mounted in enclosures
PEO2/036: Assembling and testing electronic circuits
PEO2/038: Maintaining and testing process instrumentation and control devices
Key skills units (key skills at the appropriate level).
Students wishing to pursue a career in this area need to achieve good standards of Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. For this reason, if you are under 19 years of age when you begin your course, you will be required to study these essential subjects.
What next?
Students who successfully complete this course can progress on to the National Award / Diploma (Level 3).How is the course assessed?
