GCSE - Mathematics

Duration: Part-time day or evening.


The course aims to stimulate a positive attitude to Maths and to develop the students' mathematical communication skills.

Entry Requirements

Prior to GCSE Maths students are expected to pass Numeracy Levels 1 and 2. This is taken as part of this course.

What you learn

The syllabus covers:

Numbers
Algebra
Shape and Space
Handling Data

All students undertake two pieces of coursework, in the form of mathematical investigations, which are an essential element, designed to encourage logical thinking and the ability to communicate ideas.

What next?

Maths is an essential pre-requisite for many courses and types of employment.

How is the course assessed?

Two written examination papers, one of which is without the use of a calculator.
