AS and A Levels courses
AS - Citizenship
Duration: Studied as part of a full time AS level timetable (4 1/2 hours per week).
As a citizen of the UK it is important that you understand your rights and your responsibilities. You, the student, will address the relationship between the individual, the law and the state and you will be able to use and apply your citizenship knowledge developed throughout the course to:
- communicate and articulate different views, ideas and perspectives;
- advocate, negotiate, plan, make decisions and take action on citizenship issues;
- select, interpret, analyse and evaluate information to construct reasoned and coherent arguments, make decisions, propose alternative solutions and form conclusions;
- work with others, using problem solving and critical approaches to the issues, problems and events.

A good level of written English - in particular essay writing skills (grade C or above).What you learn

Legal profession as it links in well with AS Law.This course can also provide UCAS points for university entry.
How is the course assessed?
Two external assessed exams.Unit 1 CIST1 Identity, Rights and Responsibilities - sat in January
Unit 2 CIST2 Democracy, Active Citizenship and Participation-sat in June.
