After Rakesh had completed his batchelor's degree at
Bangalore University he decided he wanted to continue
his studies, initially looking at options to either stay in
Bangalore or find a suitable choice abroad.
Rakesh came across the University Centre Grimsby and decided that they were offering just the course he wanted to study, a practical course that gave him opportunity to work on real projects and the experience of working in an industry environment, while continuing his studies, Rakesh said:
"Because we were interacting with people who were
working in industry, I learnt what is happening in the
industry now, rather than outdated practice.
"I think the MSc programme has helped me to gain
crucial experience and helped me to improve my skills,
even those like report writing, in my area of interest."
Rakesh has now extended his visa in the UK and
has been working part-time for food processing
companies while applying for jobs in both the United
Kingdom and India.

Sharath came to the University Centre Grimsby from the University of Bangalore in India through the strategic tie between the two organisations. After originally planning to study for an MBA, Sharath was excited by the prospect of studying in a different country and thought it would be more beneficial to his career, as Sharath explained:
"The programme mainly focused on the current
manufacturing and production techniques, which helped in understanding issues in an analytical manner. I started thinking in a different way and learned to ask the questions that really mattered.”
Studying in the United Kingdom comes with all kinds of benefits, and not only has Sharath gained awareness of the way things work in a foreign country but he met lots of different people, and made many new friends with a wide variety of interests. Sharath continued:
"Through the MSc programme I have acquired the ability to research and analyse in an efficient way, the ability to write dissertations and reports on a standardised level and the ability to manage my time and duties correctly."
Sharath has now graduated from the programme and is applying for jobs and projects throughout the United Kingdom.
