Tennis Academy

In a time where Britain is crying out for talented tennis stars to battle it out for the coveted Wimbledon title, the Grimsby Institute's Tennis Academy is working hard to find a potential national hero.

The Academy was launched in 2007 to provide young players with access to first-class coaching while they continue to study full-time.

Currently the training ground for several players with county and national team experience, students benefit from technical and fitness training as well as advice on strength and conditioning.

Coach Mark Henry has more than 15 years experience and heads up a team of highly skilled qualified trainers so you can be sure to find the best training possible for the sport.

In addition to a normal study schedule in further or higher education, members will also take part in a range of competitions during the season with the Institute forming its own team to compete at national level.

Your coaching sessions will focus on skill development, covering every aspect of the game through to individual coaching, and play analysis.

However, to ensure success in both academic and sporting goals, athletes must commit to a high level of effort and application in combining a full-time course of study with up to 10 hours additional coaching/playing. Effective time management is therefore essential, and academy coaches will liaise constantly with academic tutors to ensure this takes place.

So if you're up to the challenge, the Institute will be pleased to offer you the opportunity to be part of this exciting new initiative.
